It depends on the amount the car is used. I have what some call a garage queen and when I pulled the motor apart found that the lay shaft and main bearings were like new however the rod bearings had some light wear. I probably could have run it like this for a long time to come however upon inspection of the inside of the oil pump, much corrosion was evident. I talked to Bruce A. and described my findings. First thing he said was "Does this car sit lots ??"

Extended sitting time is bad for a car as well. My oil is always changed in the fall before parking it.
