Arty, as you can see above, many aftermarket conversion choose to gravity drain the oil to the oil drain sump plug, or even to the lowest point in the left chain housing/cover. Drain to the lowest point on the engine as possible. In this case, the drain sump plug is the best/easiest solution, as it does not require tapping/welding valve covers or chain covers

I have no experience with the CIS, so maybe someone else can chime in here.

Interesting you installed 4 base shims under each cylinder to lower compression. What C/R are you ending up with?
