Clutch pedal feels crunchy and sticks

When depressing the clutch, there is a 50/50 chance the pedal will stick in the fully depressed position.
I then tap it a few times and it starts the upward travel.

Also a 50/50 chance it will feel crunchy when depressing it!

I notice no weird vibration feedback on the pedal and it engages and disengages the clutch at the correct travel points.

Clutch does no slip and apart from what I mentioned, works perfectly

The car is a 1987 930 / 915 tranny.
Anyone ran into this before???

This is seriously cutting into the joy factor
