Intake charge cooling is a function of the efficiency of the intercooler, not so much the tail design. What I get in the "winter" (read - temps below 50*F) is an engine that won't warm up to 180* which causes the WUR to keep kicking down the pressure. I have to block off some of the tail opening so the engine won't cool off as much.
The intercooler does cool off much more due to the lower ambient temperatures of the air forced through it. Free power.

Those tails are heavy. I am looking for alternatives myself.
