My 1987 505 code 930 has the factory installed fan on the fender mounted oil cooler, so I'm certain that your info is not all accurate. Also, the slant shop manual for 87 and the parts diagrams do show the fan and the brackets for it. The newly added parts diagrams on Pelican also show the fan in 87.
