I'm among a dwindling minority that still uses a Honda Hawk 650 as a track (and sometimes street) bike. At one time, they were the SV650 of track bikes. I've got a bud who has a garage full of spare Hawk parts, and I can make a set of tires last for several track days. On tracks with long, high-speed straights, I just keep to the right and let the faster bikes blow past. Anyone can twist a throttle on a straightaway. Where's the skill there? Then the Hawk and I reel 'em in at the corners. And if the track should be a bit wet, that's a great equalizer when you've got a bike like a Hawk. Outdated and outgunned? Yessir. But still one of the most fun rides out there, IMO. And bullet-proof.
