+1 on -Thermarest mattress

-North Face and Sierra Designs tents

Nothing beats a nice campsite high in the mountains or near the lake or ocean.

I carry a hammock I bought in Mexico 20 yrs ago. A must .

I fit a small ice chest that is perfect for 6 pack can size in a side bag
Any where I buy drinks they allow me to fill it with ice from the drink fountain area

If your in remote areas . have at least a few freeze dried meals on hand

I usually do 3 wks down West Coast to SF, over to Sierras thru Nevada to S. Utah to Colo. up thru Wy. and Mont. and Idaho then home. Or clockwise. Usually before or after summer travel season.

The weather is usually with me favourably.

If lousy weather or tired from long day grab a motel.

A great alternative to a motel are cabins or tent cabins (yurts)
Most state and national parks have them
