Any pro's and cons for the 911

No, really this is an issue since it isn't naturally in this location (rear) and is inherently heavier than air positioned up high. I run a air/water on one of my Fords and have tossed the idea around for an option to run no tail. You could use a Ford Cobra or 944 elec pump and plumb the water to a multiple of locations for the radiator.... in place of A/C in driver quarter, to the front in a Oil cooler location, or under the decklid for a few. The IC isn't that large so lower and further foward the better. The water resovoir to handle a track day if needed will be limited. If no back seat or in rear floor well (which is a better use than for sub woofers) would be reasonable.

The general answer your always going to get is that the a/a IC is just more proven in our application and easier to make functional in a RR situation. Obviously Porsche used A/W IC's on later cars with great success. They of course went on to water cool the heads, but this may be pushing it for a DIY.
