That's a fair question Craig.
My background is in R&D and quality systems in the chemical/automotive industry.
The muffler design constraints included exteme heat resistance and light weight. Where else do you find that combination? The aircraft industry. That is why 321 was chosen, that is what they use.
I adopted the materials and basic design parameters from M&K. Ben sent me samples early on that met all of my criteria.
