Swapping the diff is best left to a transmission specialist with the appropriate special tools and expertise. My gearbox man says you can swap the LSD with the tranny in the car if you've already taken very accurate measurements of that specific tranny (and the new and old diffs) on the bench, otherwise it really should come out for the work.

If the LSD is a factory ZF, it's really not the best thing to use, JMO.

There's a couple of good recent threads on LSDs in the 911 forum (with posts by Bill V and Paul Guard of Guard Transmissions, aka geary), and many more if you go back a bit further.

The GT LSDs seem to be the best-regarded friction-type LSDs available.
