Been there ! Give me, a scare too ! Pull the pedal up with my foot luckily it release, because there is no more road ahead off me. Put the car up on the lift and check and replace plastic bushing on the pedal cable on the rear off the car, spray some lube on the cable. It have been a while since I did it I forget how many bushing it was maybe two. I doesn't cost much either. But at least give a peice off mind.
