It wasnt the linkage in the engine compartment...It was actually the push rod that connects to the back side of the throttle pedal. This is where my mickey mouse comment comes in....the metal push rod has a ball on the end of it which seats into a space on the backside of the pedal. ( a pressure fit). I had the car in for service and they adjusted the throttle linkage. Obviously the mechanic did not entirely seat the end of the push rod into the back side of the pedal, so one I hit the throttle, the push rod dislodged and the rest of the linkage fell through the floor sticking the throttle wide open.
Glad I was slow in traffic and not while under boost
