Its been years since I had any time in a "whale" but the bird I am flying now the spoilers are automatic on landing if they are armed and everything is working right. Believe that the -742 is the same but its not automatic on an abort. There is no connection with the TR's and spoilers that I know of. Totally independent systems.

We deploy them manually anyway just in case the auto system does not work so I would be really surprised if the PF did not get them out.

If this situation above is true, and right now its not official... aborting after V1 is rarely done and even more rarely done successfully. You really need spoilers in any abort as it "glues" the plane down to the runway so you can get max braking and slow it down.

Lets wait and see when we get more data from the powers that be...
