CDI ignition options???

I'm currently running the Electromotive XDi ignition system on my twin-plug engine. It's a crank-fired, distributorless, inductive based ignition. It has performed flawlessly, and I have no reason in the world to be exploring other options...except for maybe having too much time on my hands. In addition there have been some compelling arguments for using CDI over inductive igniton for a turbo engine.

Is it possible for a CIS (non-EFI) based car to run a CDI system from the likes of M&W using coilpacks? Or is an EFI computer needed to control it? Is there any way to use my Electromotive crank sensor to cobble something together? It also seems that MSD and Accel offer all sorts ignition products, controllers, coils, etc...anyone aware if they offer something that would fit my needs?

The lack of a "turn-key" solution is why I went with Electromotive to begin with. I dunno, maybe the only way to get back in the CDI game is to return to an igniton distributor...

Lets discuss.
