Should I lower me '87 mesself or have shop do it?

I've got the bug to loose my Rancho look, and have read archived posts here how-to. Fronts are a joke, rears not bad it seems tho I'm only an average DIY'er.

Then have to get it aligned, and I figured I'd have it corner balanced while at it.

For giggles I bounced it off the local shop I would have it aligned at to see what they'd get to do it all.

$785 - includes a bump-steer kit installed.

My questions are:

Is ^this^ reasonable? Not knowing how $ a bump-steer kit is, I'm trying to determine if having them do the whole shebang would be worth it since I'd already be paying for an alignment if I lowered it myself.

Do I "need" the kit? Car already has 'some' bump-steer. Would I be "ok" w/o it? Or fool not to?

From what I read / hear, clocking the rear bar can be a beoch if you're not that savvy (I'm not).

Any insight appreciated. Danka!
