Odd you should ask - I was pondering a similar question recently...

Given that they're $500 to rebuild, I think it all depends on condition. And how it was stored after being removed from the car, too. Just unbolting it and leaving it on a shelf for a few years might not be a good thing.

Maybe I'm cheap, but I didn't want to go more than a couple of hundred for one that I don't know how long it's been sitting, if the old fuel was flushed for storage or how well the car it came from was running.
