Starting from a bare shell would be great. Maybe the guys from Zuffenhaus will chime in. They just did a 3.3 turbo which was stripped to a bare shell.

My '87 weighs in at 3040 lbs, full fluids, and me in it (165lbs). Here's the list of weight-saving mods:

-no A/C, hoses, condensers, etc. (didn't work)
-no sound deadening
-no stereo or speakers (didn't work either), still have the wiring
-RS carpet kit
-Corbeau FX1 seats (10 lbs each or so)
-no trunk trim
-no engine sound pad
-no spare/toolkit when weighed

Here's what added weight
-HEIGO roll bar (probably the lightest mass-market bar available)
-BIG wheels & tires 17x11 (21lbs) 17x9 (19 lbs) on Nitto NT-01 tires (around 26-28lbs each)
-completely stock body work
-stock engine (turbo, wastegate & muffler, stock main muffler, still have the AC engine bracket)
-stock battery (65 lbs) soon to be changed to an oddyssey PC680
-elephant racing ASP, quick change, SRP anti roll bars, bigger torsion bars (yup, these things weigh more than stockers)

Next up will be to remove the bumper pads, and do a fiberglass tail, front valance, and a new lightweight muffler.

Edit:

Oh yeah, I forgot that I got rid of the air pump, rear wiper, main windshield washer reservoir and the horns! (the last two were in the way of the brake ducts...)
