I had the same problem...when you switch to the MSD CDI box, you have to switch to the rotor that doesn't have the resistor in it....or it will melt the expoxy on the top of the rotor. Do a search here or on Rennlist and you'll see the problem described better. I didn't solder the wire.....just bought another rotor that was designed to accomodate the change to MSD.
