Mooney...

Nice car and welcome aboard! I love a good car story that ends in a good deal for the new owner, and that one was great!!

Bruce Canepa has quite a reputation in Porsche lore. It's possible that the whole car, both engine and slant conversion, was built by his shop as they did quite a few slant conversions in the 80's.

A couple of things you can check on the fenders are:

- see if it has two separate head light motors attached to each of the buckets, (probably Mazda motors)

- or if it has a separate motor per side attached to the inside of the tub.. (look for ID possibly Porsche)

- or if there is a single lifting motor located just below the closing panel on the inside of the trunk. Should have rod running left & right connecting to an arm that runs through the tub-on eithere side. (Those should be factory parts)

Also since the car is on the lift, check under the front fenders for a seam around the upper edges. If no seam, you have factory slant nose fenders. If theree is a seam they are probably from Golden Coachwerks.

Both Canepa and Alan Johnson Racing used factory parts, or a combination of factory and aftermarket parts for their conversions in the 80's. Most supplied from the Special Wishes dept at Porsche.

Good Luck and you will have fun!!

Paul
