Interesting Day

I pretty much stopped working after noon and had a long e-mail discussion with co-workers over the failed bailout, the credit market, and what it means to us.

Regardless of political affiliation (and we run to gamut from a vegan environmentalist to me), everyone was in 100% agreement that a bailout was a bad idea and letting the markets digest decades of free credit was better done now than later on. Lending standards will finally tighten back to historical norms. All of the banking mergers are bad for everyone (if they were "too big to fail" before)...

We also all agreed that it was time to stock up on ammo...

We had a serious discussion about what each of us can bring to the table in a survival situation. All of the women would automatically be admitted to the group as they provide "morale". One of the guys owns a farm in Iowa. We decided that we would flee to his place if things got real bad. One thing we couldn't agree on was whether it would be better to have a motorcycle for cheap transportation or an AR-50 for long-range defense.
