I simply don't have access to another head to try. I could count the number of these cars in NZ on one hand. There are no specific 930 parts lying around in NZ. Everything I source via this site, or the US.
My other piston was turned up on my lathe - to match this head. It has no taper, the specs are excellent.
I will check for leaking fuel - but the leak I suspect will be past the waist, into the slits, not out the bottom. The scoring was on the top (head ) of the piston, and the comparable bit in the chamber.
The people who sell rebuilt heads I am talking to wont substitute another type of head - only like for like. Hence won't sell me one of their Euro heads. Not critical I guess, but if I was to change heads, it wouild make sense to get a Euro one, for my track car?
I'll try the air in line test. Good suggestion.
I thought about trying to get the chamber polished out, but hesitated, hoping the problem would solve itself. It will mean making another piston, once the bore dimension alters, even by a thou.
