Is your sender buttoned up well? You know- like the oil presure sender- if not buttoned up well, it can give irratic pressure readings.

For me, I like the guage at the top (I know how much oil I put in during the oil change 10-11 no problem). When the reading settles below the 9 0'clock position (warm, at idle, level surface) I know it could take a little oil. The gauge drops before the dip stick dries out, so I like to use it. I like to look at the dipstick too. Sometimes feel like I have to do something at the refueling station. It is a good feeling to see clean oil on the dipstick.
