Oil expands aproximately 10% by volumn when hot. The oil sump tank holds 9-9.5 quarts. There is always some oil in the bottom of the engine case as it is running. The filter holds half a quart or so and all the plumbing holds oil.
If you think about the tank in itself, between cold and hot temp you will gain almost 1 quart on the dipstick by thermal expansion only. The distance between lines on the stick is about 2 quarts from low to full marks. Thus if your at the low line cold it will creep to mid point when warm or 200 degrees.
Just an observation. Keep it at midpoint when warm on the stick and you should not have any problems.
