SWE, I think you have the CSV and the AAV confused. You are describing the AAV.

Bryan, I check the CSV is with it in the car. Hook up the Fuel head to the fuel system and pull the CSV out where you can see it. Crank the car bone cold and watch the spray pattern, or lack of, on the CSV. Just checking dry with 12V will not show the fuel pattern.

You can test the AAV by putting it in the freezer and observe that it fully opens, then place it in the oven and observe that it nearly completely closes. Electrical function is verified by connecting 12V to a cold AAV and observing it close. The time it takes varies with the P/N but it should not be more than 30 seconds or so to see a significant closure.

Is your intake off to replace the phenolic blocks and/or gaskets?
