Having said that 6 minutes in the freezer isn't long enough (I'd have given it at least 30-45 minutes, if not a couple of hours), and 6 minutes @ 180 is a bit quick too (was that a pre-heated oven?) , 15-20 minutes would be more like it - your AAV has visibly moved in the pictures, seems to me.

So it's probably working.

All they do is increase the idle on a cold start , and provide the obnoxious 1800 RPM idle for 3 minutes when warm restarting the car after 15-20 minutes (e.g. getting a few groceries).

I have a horror reaction to the idea of idling the car when stone cold, so I fast-idle @ 2000 until the engine thermostat opens 3-4 times in quick succession (about 90 seconds, you can readily detect this with a numbered oil pressure gauge) and then drive away - so the first feature I never take advantage of.

And the second feature I wish it didn't have, frankly.
