How long since the headwork was done? Exhaust valve guides are this motor's weak point and smoking at idle generally points to leaking stem guides. Do you have documentation on the headwork? Did they replace the guides? What type of guides? What type of stem seals?
I know it's easy to muff up the oiling on a Garrett but I think a K29 is a native oil-cooled turbo and should be compatible with our oiling system.
