It's not a silicone o-ring so you don't have to worry about petroleum grease possibly making it swell up.
It's just a plain old skinny black one about an inch and a half in diameter.
I used synthetic wheel bearing grease on mine because some was nearby. Any grease would work.

Silicone o-ring lube like pool guys always have for pool pumps or dow corning silicone o-ring lube would be best on most o-rings, but I wouldn't go buy it just for that one.
When you see how that skinny o-ring is installed you'll see why a little grease or oil on it helps it slide in place without dragging and tearing or pinching.
