Ferry Porsche wanted a 930 RS!!! Denied.

This surprised me 34 years after the fact!

We can thank Porsche marketing for the Cayenne, the neutered Cayman, the PDK tranny which shifts in the wrong direction, ect. But the disbelief I felt when reading this article is something else.

Ferry Porsche never intended the 930 to be loaded with all the plush luxury stuff in the first place.

Aside from the obvious reasons that a 930 RS from the factory, with RS door panels and the works, would be a dream come true, there are the hidden implications. Here I am killing the resell value of my car simply by removing heavy stuff that had no need to be there in the first place. Rear seats that don't fit a human? Massive door pockets which hit your elbow every time, ect.

And how many times have owners of pristine 930s mentioned that all that heavy stuff was there 'because Porsche intended it to be that way'? Well I would love to see a pristine 930 RS, that is a car I wouldn't change a thing on.
