From what I understand 930's can get heat soaked at idle in traffic. Heat rising off the motor can counter act the low air exchange rate at idle. I suspect a proper fan system might help there.

However, air flow over the end tanks and around supply tubes can contribute toward IC maximum efficiency. Thus, on the track there is a lot of air movement in the motor compartment so shrouding is not as important. On the street it becomes more important.

On my C2 Turbo the IC shrouding was removed after welding in a thicker core. However, on a C2T the AC condenser and oil cooler is moved to the front of the car so there is also less thermal load during the summer to contribute to a chimney effect.
