There are several formulas available on the Internet that allow you to do a fairly accurate estimate based on 1/4 mi mph (not et). You need to know the actual test weight. It isn't necessary to do an extremely hard start because mph is quite well correlated to power to weight ratio.

PS: Doesn't work as well if your car spins the tires a lot...
