I had similar issues with my '87 a few months ago. Mine would break up under high load and boost but drove normally most of the time, on one trip it was bad enough to feel like a steady misfire and I decided to park it. To correct it I ended up replacing the plugs, distributor cap, plug wires, and rotor. I also replaced the vacuum line running to the waste gate and sealed all other vacuum connections with new lines and tie wraps. I then removed and replaced the seals on the intercooler (mine is a B&B). It runs much better now, good smooth power all the way to redline.
