Good materials and design come at a premium.

While the conical muffler inlet is optimal I cannot say there is a noticeable difference (on a mild engine) when using a slightly oversized exit pipe that quickly joins an expansion chamber. That transition does need to be close to the turbine outlet size to prevent a flat spot or lag when the turbo hits.
