I wonder why this is. I have to guess it is a combination of there "vacuum-sensing" WUR, different timing advance, lower intake volume, and lighter flywheel/crank rotating weight, and lower car weight with out some of the luxuries, big brakes, shorter transmission, and intercooler. Of course if one adds an inter-cooler that one item is moot.
