If you rebuilt the recirculation valve, the fuel head should present no problem for you as long as you can find a rebuild kit.

Before I would do that tho' I would run a can of Techroline or Sea Foam through the fuel system. It can be remarkable what that stuff can do. And the cost is miniscule compared to rebuilding or replacing the fuel head.
