Thats what I did based on your venerable advise. It would occur to me that it would not be that resrictive if the pipe dia. at the collector would be bigger. I understood when I bought these 20+ years ago that the lag would be decreased because of the short route to the turbo is that not valid?

A viable alternative is to replace the early restrictive system with the Euro system Rocket pictured. That will give you an instant 35hp and allow the entire system to perform better. These can be had for a few hundred dollars so a great bang for the buck.
