As mentioned Patrick Motorsports can shorten a 930 ( call and ask which year works best). I had one shortened. I thought it was a 1982 when I sent it ( the price is more if they have to take it apart but so would it cost more to ship if sent in complete ). It turned out to be a 1988 transaxle which is a little more difficult( more$$$) however the price was still around $1000. You will also need the transaxle cross member modified or just get a new one from Patrick MS and a different throwout bearing. Porsche rates the HP to around 700 so a good trans should do the job for most higher HP builds.
