I thought I'd add my progress thus far on the stud repair.

Progress from this morning..

I've removed the rusted metal bracket that the studs were orginally welded to.. This c-shaped sheet metal peice is molded into the side of the wing. It seems that each side of the wing and the rear are independent pieces. This is very easy to do.. First.. Cut out the existing metal with a carpet knife. Then use a rotary wire brush to remove the scaled on rusty metal from the rubber (foam) wing as needed. This is very easy with a driven wire brush.

I then created a prototype bracket out of a piece of aluminum sheet I had in my garage.

A little test fitting:

I've created a template using the existing stud spacing from the good side of my wing.

I plan to use windshield adhesive from my local auto body supply store instead of the panel adhesive that was previously suggested.

I'll post pics of the gluing and final piece when it's finished.

Thank you,
