and yes the WUR has nothing to do with system pressure.

I hope the system pressure regulator in your fuel head doesn't look anything like that... don't see how it could since fuel is constantly flowing through it while the motor is running and the corroded parts of your WUR are vented to atmosphere.

Maybe the vent hose on the top has been missing on yours and when the car was washed or when it rained water got in there... and stayed there eating the insides.
