Wast Gate Delay?

Some have experimented with controlling boost by rpm and found that the mid range can be a lot stronger with higher boost. Then boost can be tapered back so when the cam comes on boost is at a safe level.

Also, using an Electronic Boost Controller can reduce some of the WG leakage as it starts to open near the boost pressure goal.

Further, some factory Turbo built cars have provision for higher boost for several seconds and then pull it back for more power without exceeding the thermal or safe operating limits of a motor.

Mabybe we could accomplish this mechanically.

I am wondering if it might work to install an accumulator or tunable reservoir in the pressure line to the WG to delay its opening. Maybe a needle valve at its entry.

This could delay the signal to the WG and delay its opening.

An upper limit could be set by adding a bypass circuit around the reservoir with a regulator on it that would set the upper boost limit.

Thus, if one had there boost set at .9 bar and wanted it to run to 1.1 bar for a short period it could be tuned to do so without an electronic WG control.

Just a thought.
