It's not good to rotate it counterclockwise because the cam chain tensioners are on the slack side of the chain... but just going back and forth a LITTLE bit right around those TDC marks like I said before while looking at the factory #1 cylinder mark(s) on the pulley to figure out which one is actually TDC and how accurate the mark is won't hurt a damn thing.

...but having said that different people will interpret a "little bit" differently so with that in mind take it for what it's worth to you.
