930 trans, how much oil?

1) Doing a search suggest you need a bit less than 4 quarts...

2) Doing another search suggest 3 quarts in any 915 transmission...

3) Reading Waynes book suggests you put in enough that you can touch the oil as you insert your finger in the side fill hole...

I did #3. But that took 5 liters from bone dry as the case was partly apart to reseal and fix a reverse issue. Any risk of an overfill? It seems that the fluid level is still below the main seal...

Should I drain out a quart, or leave it be? At 4 quarts, I had to put my finger in the fill hole and bend it downwards to touch oil. I can't imagine overfilling would cause problems, unless it causes drainage at the cv seals or the main seal...

Thoughts?
