Well, I guess you are missing the essense of danish legislation regarding vehicle taxation.

Basically if I buy a car in the US: I pay the price of the car, ship it home, pay for shipping, import duties (+10%) plus VAT (+25%) and on top of all that you have to pay what is basically another 180% of what you allready paid. The 180% is however reduced according to the age of the vehicle until it has reached an age of 35 years. At which point it is considered a historic vehicle and the tax becomes negliable, but until then OMG.

I have got a Carrera 3.0 in pieces here at home - unrestored. It runs me in about 60k US dollars (exchange rate dependable). It is just crazy.
