Shannon, I used an extra 1/4" spacer on the left side. As for the studs, I wanted to leave them long so I could swap out wheels and tires that have different backspacing and use different size spacers. To accommodate this I cut the ends off the aluminum lug nuts. I later found you could buy them that way, doh!
You cans see the studs sticking out in the picture below. They are not noticeable.
