The updated fork reduces pedal pressure by a very large amount, because the inboard bearings on the original fork/shaft got dirty over time, and then failed. The updated version uses outboard bearings that stay clean/greased.

Identification; look at the side of the bell housing (assembled car up on a lift), below the slave cylinder at about 1:00 up from the diff stub axle. You will see a metal tab that's about 1" x 0.25", secured with a 6mm (10mm wrench size) screw. That tab will be welded, at its end opposite the screw, onto an original shaft/fork, but will simply hold a plastic sealing cup (which keeps dirt out of the shaft bearing on that end) in place on the updated version.
