On the hose: yes, i did the same [with the filter] and got the same results. didn't think about the 'little rag' idea, so i just ran it back to the top of the filter. unfortunately, the 'mist' no goes back through the intake... still need to rig a catch can or maybe steal your 'rag' idea.
