I guess bumping the ignition is not as sexy.

Just like the WUR one should be able to make improvements to the stock ignitions and it should not be much different on the cost side from doing so.

For example, there is a stop that can be modified on the boost retard pot to extend boost retard. With that and a little more on boost advance we can probably get to 30 deg advance at cruse.

Better yet we might be able to source a different pot that can retard with boost and advance with vac. (I think one of the pots on some of the SC's do this.) There used to be an aftermarket one. If so we could get an even better on cruse advance and still be at about 18 to 20 deg advance on boost.

A lot of owners like to run MSD ignitions on 930's for good reasion. If so, there are options there to with boost retard or even fully programmable systems. Again about the cost of a WUR rebuild or adjustable WUR.

Porsche basically went after the same timing values with the C2 Turbos using a little add on electronics.

Why should the EFI guys have all the fun.
