Diminishing returns begin at 400WHP.
At that point you are looking at raising boost level and redline which will require replacing the rod bolts and head studs. Opening up the ports and changing cams will delay the need to raise boost and redline but still require opening the engine.
Typical 350WHP/400CHP build on stock engine:
> headers
> larger turbo
> free flowing muffler
> 1.0bar boost
> oversized intercooler
