FWIW mine idles at similar AFrs. The engine is noticeably happy around 12-12.5. If I go higher than this, splashy, erratic exhaust, and low throttle AFRs go 15+ and car coughs badly. I need these afrs to be below 14 if the car is to move off low throttle without major hiccups. And my AFR is calibrated. I dont think this is unusual, especially if the engine is not dead fresh.
Basically, I just follow the engine. If it is unhappy at a certain number, I move on rahter than try and convince it that a certain number is good for it.
