I assume that the pin is driven off of a notch in the end of the camshaft? Why does the end get beat up so badly? Does the scavenge pump pulse during operation which causes impact? I can't understand why the drive pin gets soo beat up. Is that a straight dowel pin? If so, how is it held in the the pump gear shaft? Is there a set-screw in the end of the shaft?
