BMAn, another helper... example of a 295/40 for one company may not be true for another. The actual tire width varies between manufacture. So, have him tell you tire brand as well so you can research to be sure. Especially, since you are trying to go out as far as possible. Would hate for you to purchase rubber and then have rubbing issues.
